Do you NEED to lose weight?

Such a loaded question, right?

I know many of us spend A LOT of time on the what, how, when, and why of weight loss.

And we live in a really interesting time right now where the messages have shifted a bit. There is an amazing body positive movement happening that is SO encouraging and is dismantling the messages we have been force fed about how our worthiness is tied up in how we look and what we weigh.

But what I am also seeing because of this body positive message is a level of confusion or disconnect about wanting to lose weight. That one can’t exist within the other – the questioning of how is it possible to love myself AND want to lose weight. (or love myself BEFORE I lose weight)

I think your desire to lose weight is a personal one – and whether weight loss is your goal or not – loving yourself for exactly who you are right now IS possible while also wanting to improve upon the things in your life that may be driving your weight struggles.

(Like the disconnect within yourself that drives you to overeat or not make decisions for your body from a loving space.)

Take a moment and ask yourself why weight loss is your goal?

What do you think you will experience or achieve once you’ve hit your weight loss goal?

Acceptance?

Love?

Attention?

Health?

All of the reasons you seek to achieve a certain number on a scale are because of something you want to feel about yourself.

And there’s a very good chance you still believe this feeling is outside of you. That it is something that can only be felt when you reach a certain size or when you feel like you’ve got this whole weight loss thing “under control”.

And there’s also a really good chance that the reason you haven’t reached that goal or have reached it only to find yourself gaining weight again is because you have yet to realize that the feeling you want so desperately to feel from losing weight – will not magically happen at your goal weight.

If acceptance is what you seek – you need to give it to yourself now.

If love is what you crave – it’s within you already – you just have to show it to yourself.

If attention feels important – then it’s time to look in the mirror and own your divine worthiness.

If health feels like a number on a scale – then turn inward and allow health to be who you already are – mind, body, and spirit.

Your weight struggle only reflects a part of yourself that you are not allowing to heal. Please read that again – I did NOT say your weight – I said your weight STRUGGLE.

Your weight does not define who you are in this world, what your worth is, or what you are capable of any more than your eye color does.

But your weight STRUGGLE – that back and forth battle within you to try and control or achieve something OUTSIDE of you is a signal that you are not in alignment with your true self – which IS love, acceptance, worthiness, and health.

You are a creation of God – made in His image – a reflection of everything He wants in this world. He calls us to be His hands and feet – to love those around us equally. But you must first allow His love and acceptance to flow through you completely – to heal those hurting spaces – for you to fully experience this same level of worthiness for yourself and others.

And when you do this – and start allowing every decision you make to come from that internal place of love, acceptance, worthiness, and health – then the excess weight that reflects the struggle will disappear.

And your natural weight will become a by-product of this level of self-love and worthiness.
