My Struggle = My Purpose
I never would’ve thought that all the years of struggling with my weight, emotional eating, shaming my body, feeling OUT OF CONTROL would turn into my life’s purpose. I wish I could go back and tell that young girl how the ground work was being laid for an amazing journey to self-love. That the desire to be her best and grow and learn turned into a career helping others do the same. That God knew EXACTLY what He was doing when He created her. No mistakes, no f@#k-ups, no need for a do-over. Everything happened exactly as it was suppose to.
Welcome to my journey – welcome to a peek into my own self-discoveries and how I’ve used this journey to help other women have their own AHA moments. One thing that I now know for sure – we are all unique, amazing creations – and there’s NO one size fits all. I know the media bombards us with THE answers and we feel like failures when we can’t fit into their little box. The GREAT news is – there is NO box – YOU get to define what healthy means to you.
Here’s what healthy looks like for ME right now (and YES, I edit this definition as it’s necessary for me)
• I love my little Fitbit and have a goal of 10,000 steps a day (this DOES not always happen)
• I lift weights 2 to 3 times a week (and I adjust what/how I’m lifting depending on what sounds fun that day)
• I eat when I’m hungry and stop before I’m full – there’s a handy dandy little hunger scale that I follow – imagine a fuel gauge in your car. I eat when my body gives me signals of hunger and stop at the point that my body is satiated (there’s a feeling of lightness in my tummy and I feel like I could go for a walk with no stomach discomfort)
• I do something daily for my mind – listening to podcasts and/or reading a chapter or two of a book.
• And I do something daily for my spirit – which right now includes quiet time in the morning on my yoga mat and reading from my Bible before bed.
What 3 things could you do this week to define your healthy?
