A Jesus Girl’s Guide

So – I’m writing a book – on weight loss.

NEVER in my lifetime did I think I would make THAT statement!

But I have to tell you, when you work on your sh$t, stop distracting yourself from life and do things even when you are scared – your life blows up in the most BEAUTIFUL way you can imagine!

So – back to the book.

Part of the process of writing a book is to identify WHO you are writing to – who IS your reader?

And again – this question made my mind EXPLODE with details of this person – you.

My reader is a Jesus girl, soul sister, lover of life.

She questions her abilities at times – but knows she’s capable of bigger things.

She fully accepts God’s amazing gift of forgiveness and grace.

She cusses a little and laughs a lot.

She has a soft, kind heart and loves helping others.

She has struggled with defining what her relationship with God looks like to the outside world.

She’s worked to let go of the religious doctrine that she was taught growing up and now fully embraces her PERSONAL connection with Jesus.

She loves sports (especially football).

She’s a shoulder to lean on for her loved ones.

She likes the occasional adult beverage.

When she gets confused at what the world tells her to believe – she comes back to the two most important commandments in the Bible. To love the Lord her God with all her heart, with all her soul and with all her mind – and to love her neighbor as herself.

She loves jewelry, purses and shoes.

She wants to fully live this life she’s been blessed with and be DONE with the things that hold her back and distract her from her dreams.

She’s smart, loyal, and witty.

She’s TIRED of weight and food being her “problem” and is willing to try new ways – even if it feels uncomfortable.

She’s flawesome (a girl who embraces her flaws and knows she’s awesome regardless).

She’s open to learning and growing – she falls flat on her face sometimes – but always gets back up.

She’s learning that her worthiness is not dictated by others – but God’s truth instead.

She’s realizing that there are NO coincidences in life – and is figuring out that those little “messages” are her God moments.

She’s still learning her bible verses – and is willing to dig into His word for guidance.

She’s beginning to question her perfectionist tendencies and recognizes that this fear of “not good enough” could be holding her back.

She no longer wants to let her insecurities keep her from showing up as God calls her to.

She’s a whole lotta practical and a little bit of woo-woo (free spirited) and she’s done with trying to hide her uniqueness.

She knows that God wants so much more for her than to spend her life struggling with her weight.

She’s a work in process, scared sometimes to put herself out there, but is tired of living life on the sidelines.

She’s ready for a change.
