What do you BELIEVE?

What’s the story you tell yourself? About your weight loss? About your food choices? About your abilities? Confidence? Body? Do you tell yourself you are capable of losing weight and keeping it off? Do you believe that you can END the emotional eating cycle? Do you love yourself and fully own the body you have RIGHT now without beating yourself up about it or shaming yourself? What you think, then you create.

If you think losing weight is hard and impossible to keep off, then guess what, it will be. If you believe you are destined to be an emotional eater for the rest of your life, then you will be correct. If you feel that there is no way to love the body you have right now, then you won’t. The work really and truly begins with what you think and the story you tell.

We lose sight of what the facts are about a situation and create tons of drama around it – the fact is, you may weigh 50lbs more than you did when you got married – the fact is, you may eat when you are avoiding your feelings – the fact is, you say mean things about yourself – but the rest? The rest is the story you are choosing to believe! And the day you challenge that story – the day you decide that YOU can do the work to change your thought patterns and beliefs – THAT is the day your life will change.

For a VERY long time, I wasn’t even aware that what I believed was something that I could change. I mean, it was fact right? Ummm…..no! I soon began to realize that if a room full of 5 people could hear my story and have varying opinions about it – then we weren’t talking facts – we were talking opinions (which are just people’s thoughts, right?).

I know some of us can be pretty passionate about our beliefs, but they are still just that, MY beliefs. And as an adult (who seems to have a pretty good hold over her mind), I have the ability to question those beliefs and decide what serves me and what doesn’t.

At some point in time, a certain thought may have served me, but as I grew and changed, it only made sense that those thoughts might change too.

Does your story serve you? When was the last time you questioned what you choose to believe about yourself?
