What kind of Coach am I?

Do you wonder what the heck a life coach and weight loss coach really is?

I just participated in my first Holistic Fair this past weekend and had the opportunity to answer this question over and over again! 😉

I have to share – everyone was kind of confused since my booth was setup with a spread of the best “junk” food available!

The display was not just there to spark conversation, but it helped people understand a little better what I do when I explained to them that I work with:

1) women who struggle with emotional eating
2) women who want to lose weight but feel out of control around food
3) women who have already lost the physical weight but still struggle with the battle in their head and using food to distract themselves from their emotions.

That I’m the kind of coach that will teach you how to feel empowered around food.

Someone who understands the struggle and has found the missing piece to end the internal battle.

A coach who will help you process your emotions and stop being so damn afraid of feeling your feelings.

An encourager to nudge you forward when the comfort zone is keeping you from taking action.

A cheerleader when you’ve had an AHA moment that allows you to gain a different perspective on the story you keep repeating in your head.

A teacher of tools that you will be able to apply to ALL situations in your life, not just the weight loss ones.

A shining light on the path when you’ve lost your way.

A reminder that you are worth the self-love that this journey requires.

A friend when you feel like you are all alone in this new process – cause let’s be real – even when you discover the magic of this work, everyone else will NOT immediately join this journey with you!

(but you will be an AMAZING example to them of how life-changing this work can be!)

I’m not a tough love type of coach – I believe in your ability to write this story in whichever way benefits you best.

I also believe in your ability to move past what no longer serves you, to create new ways of thinking.

Am I a quick fix type of coach? Well, that depends on your willingness to learn and try new things! 😉

But I’m not the type of coach that believes there is ONE exercise plan or way of eating that is the be-all end-all for your weight loss goals.

I’m a coach that KNOWS you are capable of defining what healthy looks like for you.

I will guide you in deciding how you want to honor your body with food and exercise.

I will help you understand that your past does not define you – failure is not a weakness – and you are worth investing in yourself.

I’m the kind of coach that fully understands what this journey entails, understands the doubts that come up for you, and understands WHY you are so scared to do this.

I’m also the coach who KNOWS what’s on the other side of all of this worry and fear. And KNOWS that your BEST life is waiting for you to step into it.

I know that the emotional eating is distracting you.

And I know you want to stop but don’t know how.

That’s the reason my passion is in being THIS kind of coach – because I want nothing more than for you to fully embrace the amazing, unique, and beautiful creation that you are!

P/S – In case you didn’t know – I offer a free 30 minute one on one coaching session. Email me (amy@losethementalweight.com) to schedule yours!

Well, I feel like I’ve only scratched your surface and you have already changed my life! You have opened my eyes to a completely new and different view of myself and my life. There honestly are no words to describe what you’ve done for me. And the amazing part is we’ve had ONE phone conversation. You’re selflessness shines through because you are always willing to help by reading my emails and always knowing exactly the right things to say! I finally won a battle with my scale this week – my “pre-weigh-in thought dump” used words like “excited,” “can’t wait to see,” “experiment,” “it is what it is.” This in and of itself is a win! I didn’t have any expectations because I wasn’t able to exercise but a couple times thanks to this finger. And last week, I wasn’t obsessed over NOT exercising (this is a huge deal). Back to the scale … I lost 1.7 pounds. With practically no exercise (coming from someone who burns 5,000 calories easily in a week). And I celebrated my dad’s birthday (with the best cheese tray I’ve ever had). And I celebrated mother’s day (with my homemade mac n cheese). There was no emotional eating. I ate because it was good, and I made the decision to ENJOY EVERY MINUTE AND BITE. And you know what? There was no guilt. Did I mention I lost 1.7 pounds?! This past week just adds another layer to the already multi-layered cake you’re helping me build! Again, there are no words. Even if I hadn’t lost weight, or had gained weight, this week was still a major accomplishment because I was in “my good place” despite not being able to exercise and allowing myself to indulge a little. And speaking of my good place … remember when you helped me reframe that pathetic thought that I was sure was positive? I don’t know the last time I’ve had to read the sticky note to remind me what it says – it’s now my default thought. TALK ABOUT POWERFUL!! #lovinmesomeme
